The Copper Queens of Zambia are preparing for their last match on home soil against the Twiga Stars of Tanzania as the women’s world cup draws near.
The match will take place at Woodlands Stadium since the 2022 WAFCON bronze medalists will use it as a practice match ahead of the 2023 FIFA World Cup.
Racheal Kundananji, a striker for Spanish side Madrid CFF, guaranteed the media that she would repeat her present club performance at the upcoming World Cup competition.
Despite the Spanish Club finishing in fifth place, she had the second-most goals for her club with 25, finishing second overall.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 will kick off at Eden Park in Auckland/Tāmaki Makaurau on Thursday, 20 July, with co-hosts New Zealand up against 1995 winners Norway.
Because the World Cup is a competition rather than a league, Kundananji said, “I need to keep up with my current performance and give more because it will be simpler with the help of the team.”

Meanwhile, the Spanish-based striker said the friendly match against Tanzania will help the Bruce Mwape-led technical bench, and measure the team’s readiness for the women’s world cup.

“The match on Sunday is very important because we have to know how we have prepared because you know the World Cup is not an easy task. Supporters should turn out in numbers on Sunday and support the copper queens, and we promise to deliver,” concluded Kundananji.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023 is on track to become the most attended standalone women’s sporting event in history, with FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, revealing that 1,032,884 tickets have now been sold for the ninth edition of the competition, surpassing the total sales for France 2019.
