Zambia women’s National Team midfielder, Ireen Lungu has challenged her teammates to step up in their next friendly match.
The Copper Queens have traveled to Switzerland for their international friendly match against Switzerland on Friday.
They are also scheduled to play two-time World Champions, Germany on July 7th before traveling to Australia for the World Cup.

The Kazakhstan quartet of Lungu, Catherine Musonda, Hellen Chanda, and Martha Tembo, who missed the friendly against Ireland, have also joined the squad.
Meanwhile, midfielder Lungu believes the team can beat Switzerland on Friday.
“It feels awesome to join the rest of the team; I look forward to working together, uniting as one, and supporting each other so that we [win] against Switzerland,” she told FAZ media before her departure for Zurich today.
“We need to utilise all the chances we are going to have against Switzerland… If we win the Switzerland game, it’s going to boost every player’s morale. So that in the next game against Germany, everyone will be on another level.”
Lungu is ready to prove herself ahead of the World Cup
Meanwhile, Lungu has promised to work hard to earn a place in the final squad.
“These are World Cup preparations, and I think every player’s dream is to play in the World Cup. I am anxious. I will work hard and show the coach that I want to be in the best team that is going to play at the World Cup.
“This is an opportunity as a player to showcase my talent so that other big clubs can see me. Fans should keep believing in us and supporting us, and we will surely deliver good results,” concluded Lungu.
The 2023 Australia/New Zealand FIFA Womens World Cup will commence on 20th July.
Zambia is in Group C alongside Costa Rica, Japan, and Spain.
