For the tenth time in a row, Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club has successfully defended their Zambian Women’s Super League championship.
Green Buffaloes have won the championship going 34 games without a loss, winning 28 of them, and drawing six of them which has also secured their qualification for 2024 COSAFA Women’s Champions League.
With a goal difference of +91 at the end of the season, the Nyanta Girls finished ahead of their rival opponent, the Zesco Ndola Girls, with 90 points.
At Lusaka’s Nationalist Stadium, Green Buffaloes WT defeated ZSID 2-0 in the season finale. Maweta Chilenga scored the game’s first goal just seconds in, while the visiting team also scored an own goal.
Zesco finish second
In Ndola, Zesco Ndola Girls defeated Zanaco Girls by 2-0 to finish second in the league with 87 points. Fridah Kabwe and Avell Chitundu were the scorers for the home side.
Maylan Mulenga of the Green Buffaloes, who has scored 25 goals this season, will win the Golden Boot in the Zambian Women’s Super League.
By surpassing last season’s total of 24 goals—four fewer than the winner, Xiomala Mapepa, who scored 28 goals—the striker has set a new personal record.
Closing following Maylan was Charity Mubanga of Zesco Ndola Girls striker Charity Mubanga, Green Eagles’ Racheal Moono, and Lungowe Namasiku of ZISD FC, all sitting on 24 goals
It has been a tough period to endure for Mubanga, who has scored just once in the last 10 matches for the ZESCO Ndola Girls, who were contending for the league title against Green Buffaloes.

Copper Queens striker, Grace Chanda still holds the record for the most goals scored in the Zambian Women’s Super League, having scored 35 goals in the 2021/22 season.
