Copper Princesses coach Carol Kanyemba says that Zambia is ready for a showdown against Uganda in the 2024 U-17 FIFA Women’s World Cup third round on Sunday.
The winner between the two sides will face either Morocco or Algeria for a spot in the U17 FIFA Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic.
Meanwhile, Morocco, a probable opponent of Zambia U17 WNT in the 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifying round, defeated Algeria 4-0 in the first leg of their match last night.
The first leg match between Zambia and Uganda is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. at the 50,009-seat National Heroes Stadium.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference at Football House, Kanyemba promised fans to look out for ‘very good football’ that they are going to witness on Sunday.
“It’s always good to bury the qualifier at home, we have encouraged the girls to work hard and get as many goals as possible on Sunday so that we reduce the pressure of the away game.
Team Captains speak out ahead of clash.
At the same media event, Uganda’s coach Sheryl Botes is optimistic that her team, the Teen Cranes, would give Zambia a hard game.
“Our mood is high, and we are ready for tomorrow. Though the Zambian team is strong, we shall overcome it with the coach’s instructions and her coaching efforts,” team captain Desire Katisi stated.
