Morocco failed to replicate the performance of their male counterparts at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup as they suffered a humiliating 6-0 in their first game against Germany at Melbourne Rectangular Stadium on Monday.
Moroccan coach Reynald Pedros admitted that the two-time World Champions were superior to his team.
“Germany was superior to us, it was David Vs Goliath,” he told reporters after the game. “We made mistakes against a better team, so it is not a suprise to lose, but we did not think we would concede six goals.”
Pedros has called on his players to put the defeat behind them and concentrate on their next two games.
“We need to stay focused and concentrated on the competition. We still have two games to play. Our objective is to as quickly as possible get back to work and get our heads down.
He added: “We also want to look at what was missing and what we weren’t able to do. We will prepare based on that for the south Korea game. But we are here to learn and need to have a little bit more experiences and quality. We will stay positive and move forward.”

Germany’s 6-0 win over the Atlas Lionesses is the tournament’s largest margin of victory and moves them to the top of Group H with three points.
On Sunday, Morocco will face South Korea who will play against Colombia tomorrow.
