Argentina takes on the South African on Friday in their quest to fight for a round of 16 place at the Dunedin Stadium.

Both teams lost their opening matches to Italy and Sweden, with scores of 1-0 and 2-1, respectively.

Meanwhile, Banyana Banyana will need three points to have a chance of advancing to the knockout stage. The African Champions will seek to make history as they look for their first-ever victory at the tournament finals.

Speaking to journalists ahead of the match South africa’s head coach Desiree Ellis declared her team ready.

“It is a must win against Argentina,” she said. “But we also need to score goals to give us a realistic chance of going through to the round of 16.

“We have worked on how we can be better in the final third, we are always going to create chances, so we have worked on our finishing.”

“There is more that people haven’t seen”- Ellis

Ellis believes that the world has not seen anything yet for her side as she showered them with praises.

“This team has matured so much in the last few years and got so much better mentally as well. They have fought through battles and challenges. We were brave and courageous against Sweden and there is more that people haven’t seen.”

On facing Argentina, the 2022 CAF female coach of the year Award winner said they are a good team but she is confident they will grab all three points.

“It will not be easy, Argentina are a good side, but if we play our game, create the chances and put them away, we will get a positive result,” concluded Ellis.
