Diana Chikotesha, a female FIFA referee from Zambia, will officiate at the 2024 African Cup of Nations Championship (CHAN), which will take place in 2025.
Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda will co-host the event, which is scheduled for February 1–28, 2025.
CAF has announced a list with 25 referees, 24 assistant referees, 14 Video Assistant Referees (VARs), and Assistant Video Assistant Referees (AVARs).
Chikotesha, known for her extensive experience as an assistant referee, is the sole representative from Zambia on the list.
COSAFA, has contributed 11 match officials comprising referees, assistant referees and VAR officials, for the upcoming tournament in East Africa.
Zambia’s Chikotesha has officiated in major FIFA and CAF competitions. In the previous year, she made history by becoming the first woman to officiate as an assistant referee in the men’s Africa Cup of Nations final match.
Chikotesha officiated in the 2024 Olympics, the Women’s World Cup, the CAF Champions League, and the CAF Confederation Cup.
