Copper Queens duo Fridah Mukoma and Xiomara Mapepa have won the 2025 Chinese Women’s Super League title with Beijing Oriental Yuhong WFC. Beijing WFC were crowned Chinese Women’s Super League champions on Sunday morning after beating fellow title contenders Liaoning Shenbei Hefeng 4-0.
Heading into the match, Beijing WFC was second in the standings with 38 points from 21 matches, trailing Liaoning S.H. by two points.
The Chinese capital outfit needed a win to claim the gold.
Beijing WFC’s afternoon got off to a perfect start when Yujie Zhao broke the deadlock from the spot in the 31st minute. Malian international Saratou Traore doubled the lead for the hosts just four minutes later.
Yujie Zhao put the game to bed late on with two goals, completing her hat trick against Liaoning S.H. Fridah Mukoma was not in the matchday squad due to injury, while Xiomara Mapepa was an unused substitute.
Beijing WFC left it late in the title race, putting up a five-star performance in the last game of the campaign to win the Chinese Women’s Super League. This is the third Chinese women’s top-flight title in the club’s history and the first since 2002.
Prior to her injury, Fridah Mukoma was the talisman of the side, scoring eight goals and providing an assist in 13 league matches for Beijing WFC.
The forward joined the club in March on loan from NWSL outfit Kansas City Current, who signed her from Zambian side Zesco Ndola Girls.
Her compatriot, Xiomara Mapepa, joined Beijing WFC in the summer and has featured twice in the league, contributing to their successful campaign.
Winning the league title was always a target for Fridah Mukoma, who confidently said in March, “We [Beijing WFC] want to win the league.”
Beijing WFC has secured qualification for the 2026-27 AFC Women’s Champions League and will now look to complete the domestic double with the CFA Women’s National FA Cup coming up in December.
