Copper Queens squad for Malawi and Zimbabwe friendlies announced

Avell Chitundu returns and Rachael Kundananji to lead the team again in Barbra Banda’s absence.

Copper Queens coach Nora Hauptle has named a 26-member squad for the three-nation friendly tournament to be hosted by Malawi from November 28 to December 2 in Lilongwe, according to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ).

The squad features several rising talents, including U-17 players Mwila Mufunte, Mercy Chipasula, Mapalo Maluba, and Margaret Gondwe, who have all earned call-ups for the tournament.

Zesco Ndola Girls midfielder Avell Chitundu also makes her return to the Copper Queens, strengthening the squad for the Malawi and Zimbabwe friendlies.

Bay FC star Rachael Kundananji will lead the team in the absence of injured captain Barbra Banda. Other senior players named in the squad include Mary Wilombe, Rachael Nachula, Grace Chanda, Kabange Mupopo, Lushomo Mweemba, Martha Tembo, and Susan Banda.

DEFENDERS: Margaret Belemu (Red Arrows), Memory Nthala, Rachael Nachula, Magaret Gondwe (all Green Buffaloes), Blessing Maluba (Nchanga Queens), Martha Tembo, Lushomo Mweemba (both Hakkarigucu-Turkey), Judith Soko (Zesco Ndola Girls)

MIDFIELDERS: Susan Banda (Cekemekoy-Turkey), Grace Chanda (Orlando Pride-USA), Avell Chitundu (Zesco Ndola Girls), Evarine Katongo, Natasha Nanyangwe (both Green Buffaloes), Ireen Lungu (Sichun-China), Mary Wilombe (Red Arrows)
