Indeni Roses striker Ngosa Chabwe feels the postponement of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup tournament is disappointing, as she was looking forward to shining at the competition.
Last week, CAF officially postponed the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which will now take place from 25th July to 16th August 2026.
The WAFCON tournament was to run from March 17 to April 3, 2026.
Ngosa was part of the squad that participated in the Cosafa tournament and was confident she was going to make it to the final WAFCON-bound squad.
Speaking to Bolanews in an exclusive interview, Chabwe expressed displeasure with the decision.
“I have been pushing and working hard to ensure that I make it to the final squad of the coach. It is very disappointing that the tournament won’t take place; some of us were putting in the hard work ahead of the tournament“
Zambia is in Group C alongside defending champions Nigeria, Malawi, and Egypt.
The 2026 WAFCON will serve as a qualifier for the Brazil 2027 FIFA World Cup, with the top four teams expected to qualify for the World Cup.
