Nora Hauptle and her Ghana’s Black Queens are undefeated, with nine straight victories and no goals conceded.
The Swiss coach has not lost a match since her appointment in January of this year.
The Black Queens defeated Benin 2-0 in the second leg in Accra on Tuesday evening. The result meant they advanced to the third round of qualifiers with a 5-0 aggregate win.
They will now face Zambia’s Copper Queens, who were handed a walkover in the second round due to Mali’s withdrawal from the competition.
The Copper Queens have not lost a match since their historic 3-1 win against Costa Rica at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, with the exception of the Cosafa Cup, where only local-based players were selected.
They defeated Morocco 0-2 and 6-2 in two back-to-back friendly matches in September.
The winner of the match between Zambia and Ghana on February 19th and 28th, 2024, will face the winner of the two-legged matchup between Morocco and Tunisia for a spot at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Bruce Mwape’s charges will aim to make back-to-back appearances at the Olympics. They were Africa’s sole representative at the 2020 Tokyo edition.
Zambian star Barbra Banda, who became the first player to score consecutive hat-tricks at the last Olympics will be eager to return to the tournament.
The 23-year-old Shanghai Shengli forward was also the first African female player to score six goals in a FIFA-organised tournament.
