Rhoda Chileshe, a midfielder for Indeni Roses Football Club, responded to the most recent Copper Queens call-up by scoring a hattrick as the Ndola team defeated ZISD 5-0 on Wednesday afternoon.
Indeni, who have now won three straight games, want to build on their strong performance when they play Zesco Ndola Girls Football Club this weekend in the Ndola derby.
Following the defeat, ZISD Women’s FC, with 26 games played, is ninth on the log, while Indeni Roses, has 55 points after 23 games, and occupy in third place.
Chileshe opened the score in the 4th minute through a well-taken free kick after ZISD goalkeeper Abigail Kasonde handled the ball outside the 18-yard area.
The midfielder scored again in the sixteenth minute, and then the team’s captain, Esther Namukwasa, added a third goal to make it 3-0 in favor of the home team at the half.
After dominating the first half, Indeni had to wait until Chileshe finished with a hat-trick in the 81st minute to score a fourth goal. Edith Phiri then cemented Indeni’s dominance in the 90th minute.
Indeni welcomed back to their squad goalkeeper, Eunice Sakala, who was part of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup squad last year.
Elsewhere, Nkwazi striker Eneless Phiri was also on the score sheet as she announced her presence in Bruce Mwape’s 34-member provisional squad for the upcoming 2024 Olympics qualifier against Morocco.
Beauty Zulu’s final kick of the first half gave the visitors the lead, but Nkwazi rallied from behind to defeat Luyando Foundation 2-1.
