Zambia has advanced to the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup final-round qualifiers after beating Tanzania 1-0 to complete a 4-0 aggregate victory at the Levy Mwanawansa stadium in Ndola.

The Copper Princesses, who are aiming for back-to-back qualification for the World Cup found the match-winning goal in the 53rd minute through defender Natasha Nkaka.

The victory sends Zambia to the third and final round of the qualifiers, where they will face either Benin or DR Congo for a place at the World Cup, which will be held in Morocco in October.

The team’s head coach Carol Kanyemba is already looking ahead and said her girls are ready to face whoever it will be in the final round as they seek to write history by achieving back-to-back qualification for the World Cup.

“We have a video analyst who is specialized in bringing footage for our opponents. So we have been observing both Congo and Benin,” Kanyemba told a post-match press conference at the Levy Mwanawansa stadium. “But we’ll be able to know opponents after the final results. But we have some footage for both teams so we know the kind of opponents that we’re going to face and the girls already, because football is about challenges.”

She continued: “If you want to make it and be good in life, you need to beat the best and set records so our girls are motivated and are very ready to meet whoever is on the way.”
