National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side Bay FC will play their first home game against Houston Dash on Saturday at a sold-out 18,000 PayPal Park stadium, the club announced on Thursday.
This will be their first-ever home game in the NWSL after winning 1-0 away to Angel City Football Club and losing 2-1 to Washington Spirit in their second match of the season.
The club, which was founded last year, recently signed Nigerian striker Asisat Ashoala, who made history by scoring their first goal in the NWSL against Angel City, and Zambian striker Rachel Kundananji, who became the world’s most expensive female player after joining from Madrid CFF for $785,000.
Kundananji has yet to play for Bay FC after being injured during the 2024 Olympic qualifiers between Zambia and Ghana at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola last month.
However, it is hoped that she will make her debut this weekend after being seen training with the rest of the team on Wednesday.
When asked if Kundananji would be available for Saturday’s game, Bay FC coach Albertin Montoya said: “We hope so,” according to American football writer Kevin V. Nguyen.
