Eden University Women’s Super League champions Zesco Ndola Girls Football Club goalkeeper Annie Namonje says the team is not under pressure to replicate this season’s performance next season.

William Njobvu’s side went the season unbeaten, getting 31 straight wins and drawing the rest to break Green Buffaloes’ three-season dominance.

They will also represent the country at the upcoming COSAFA-CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers later this year.

In an interview, Namonje stated that it will not be difficult to replicate the same performance because the team has gained experience.

“We are not under pressure because we have had experience from the just-ended season, so we are going to start the games from where we have ended.”

Namonje, the Zesco Ndola Girls player of the season, attributed the award to hard work and resilience.

“Hard work pays. Dreams don’t die if you have the ambition and ability to reach your goals; just keep pushing; you’ll definitely achieve your goals one day,” she said.

Namonje.

“I never wanted to give up easily. I had played for Indeni Roses before I had my experience, and I came to Zesco; the team believed me, and they still believe me, so I can encourage the young girls that football can change their lives.”

She adds that Zesco Ndola Girls are aiming to bring honours to the country at the COSAFA CAF Women’s Champions League.

“As we are going for COSAFA, we are going to push so that we can bring glory to Mother Zambia, not only Ndola but Mother Zambia,” she concluded.
