Red Star Belgrade manager Barak Bahar has revealed that Chipolopolo star Kings Kangwa could feature in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League encounter against RB Leipzig.
The creative playmaker put on a clinic as he grabbed an assist in Red Star’s 3-1 win over Radnik.
This comes after the Copper Bullet did not make a single appearance for Red Star Belgrade for six consecutive matches. His last start for the club before this weekend was in September’s 2-1 defeat to Čukarički.
Meanwhile, before Red Star’s victory on Saturday, it was a 1-1 draw to TSC, which saw the Serbian champions remain six points behind leaders Partizan. This prompted fans to pressurize club gaffer Bahar to opt for a more attacking lineup that would yield maximum points at the weekend.
Hence, the weekend’s game against Radnik saw the return of Kangwa, Guélor Kanga, Jean-Phillipe Krasso, and Jovan Mijatovic to the starting lineup.
Kangwa gets assurance from his Red Star coach
Speaking in a post-match interview after Red Star’s 3-1 victory over Radnik, Bahar said, “When you perform well and don’t win, it is only natural that there is a drop in self-confidence. Following the TSC match, it was a challenging time. We engaged with the fans, and I think they’re content with this recent win.”
Kangwa did not disappoint at the weekend when given the opportunity. The midfielder was a gem to watch against Radnik.
Alongside a picture-perfect cross for Uroš Spajić’s goal, Kangwa created more chances than any other starting player on the night (3).

When asked about the Zambian’s impressive display, Red Star coach Bahar responded, “There is no need to prove themselves. This is because they are already quality football players. It is possible that he [Kangwa] will play on Tuesday.”
