Inter Milan head coach Simone Inzaghi says his team has worked hard to reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League and will not fear any opponent as they prepare to face Barcelona on Wednesday night.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Inzaghi expressed confidence and belief in his squad’s readiness for the challenge.
“They [Barcelona] have scored over 150 goals this season—their numbers are extraordinary. We have the utmost respect, but no fear. It’s been a Champions League full of great opponents and fierce competition. We want to play these two semi-final matches like a true Inter side should,” he said.
“Inter, Barcelona, Arsenal and PSG are the best four—they have deservedly made it this far. Barcelona are coming off their Copa del Rey win. We may come into the match in different form, but the team has worked well these past few days and we will aim to put in a great performance,” he added.
Inzaghi emphasized the team’s commitment and mentality going into the tie.
“We must always be as ambitious as possible. The league is no longer in our hands, but we are in the last four of the Champions League, with the players having given everything they have. The team will play this semi-final with their heads held high and with a lot of desire,” declared the coach.
Inter Milan and Barcelona will face off in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday night at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.
The Italian giants are targeting their fourth UEFA Champions League title, having last lifted the trophy in 2010. They reached this stage after knocking out Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals just a few weeks ago.
Despite recent domestic setbacks with losses to Napoli and AC Milan, Inter are hopeful of bouncing back and reaching the final for the second time in recent years, having finished as runners-up to Manchester City in 2023.
