Kylian Mbappé scored on his Real Madrid debut as Los Blancos defeated Atalanta 2-0 in the UEFA Super Cup in Warsaw to win the trophy for the record sixth time in nine appearances.
The European Champions opened the scoring through Valverde after Vinícius Jr showcased his tremendous dribbling ability in the box to set him up for the goal in the 59th minute following a tightly contested first half.
Madrid gained confidence and applied more pressure on the Europa League winners. They would soon score their second goal, with Mbappé, making his debut for Los Blancos, expertly firing into the top corner after being picked out by Bellingham in the box.
It was Mbappe’s first trophy, but Carlo Ancelotti’s fifth, as he lifted it to the Super Cup to set an all-time record.
When asked if he has a number of goals he is targeting to score in the upcoming season in Madrid, the French man said he has no limit.
“We are at Real Madrid, we have no limit, if I can score 50, then 50, but the most important thing is winning and improving as a team, because we will win as a team,” Mbappe told Movistar.
He added: “It was a great night, I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time.”
“To play with this shirt, with this badge, for these fans, it’s a gift for me.
“We won a trophy too, that’s very important, we know that here we always have to win and I am very happy.”
