French forward Kylian Mbappé has scored his 31st goal for Paris Saint Germain in the UEFA Champions League to overtake Edinson Cavani’s tally and become the clubs all time top scorer in the competition.
The 23 -year old has broken Cavin’s record which he set in 54 appearances for the French Champioks.
Mbappé scored for PSG on Tuesday night from the spot kick in the 40th minute before it was cancelled by Joao Mario who also scored from a penalty for Benefica to level the scores and end the match 1-1.
Mbappé has broken Cavin’s record with 46 games fewer amid reports of his desire to leave the French Champions.
The former World Cup winner has also moved his goal tally in the Champions League to 37 goals having scored 6 goals in 9 appearances for AS Monaco and 31 for PSG.
PSG are now top of group H with 8 points level with second placed Benefica and above Juventus who are sitting in third position after suffer suffering a 2-0 defeat to bottom placed Maccabi Haifa.
