Chelsea ran riot on Tuesday night, thrashing Barcelona 3–0 at Stamford Bridge in a commanding Champions League performance.

Enzo Maresca’s tactical setup paid immediate dividends, as he deployed a fast front three of Pedro Neto, Alejandro Garnacho, and Estevão to exploit Barcelona’s high defensive line. Chelsea’s midfielders released the trio early, creating repeated threats and forcing multiple offside calls.

Enzo Fernandes scored twice, but his goals were not counted due to a handball and an offside after a VAR check.

The breakthrough came in the 27th minute when Jules Koundé mishandled a routine ball, allowing it to dribble over the line for Chelsea’s opener. Barcelona’s night worsened just before halftime when Ronald Araújo received a second yellow card for a clumsy challenge, reducing the visitors to ten men.

The Estevão moment

The second goal was a moment of individual brilliance from teenage sensation Estevão, who scored a stunning solo effort in the 55th minute. The Brazilian became just the third teenager in Champions League history to score in each of his first three starts, joining Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland. Marc Cucurella’s tireless performance further ensured that Barcelona star Lamine Yamal was kept quiet throughout the contest to win the man of the match award.

Chelsea sealed the victory in the 73rd minute when Liam Delap tapped in a simple finish after Chelsea once again exploited the exposed high line. The win was capped by a rare clean sheet, with Chelsea becoming the first team in 53 matches to prevent Barcelona from scoring.

The result lifts Chelsea to fifth in the league phase, putting them in a strong position to qualify automatically for the knockout rounds. Maresca praised the team’s collective effort but remained measured about the result, while supporters celebrated Estevão’s rise as one of football’s most exciting young talents.

Chelsea now prepares to host Premier League leaders Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, setting up another high-profile clash for the Blues.
