After sustaining a knee injury, Italy-based winger Lameck Banda hopes to make a better comeback with his Italian team next season.
Banda is anticipated to be out for two months following surgery on his right knee in April.
Lecce ended the league in 14th place with 38 points from 38 matches, including 8 victories, 14 draws, and 16 defeats, clinching a spot in the Serie A for the next season.
The Chipolopolo winger has made 21 Serie A appearances, scoring two goals and providing four assists since joining Lecce in 2022.
Banda stated on his social media pages that it has been a difficult season, but he is optimistic about bouncing stronger next season.
“Grateful for another season. It has indeed been a difficult and beautiful emotional journey,” he wrote. “Thank you for all your support and encouragement. We remain in Serie A and we remain committed to the people of Lecce.”
Banda will miss the Chipolopolo’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, which take place next month against Morocco and Tanzania.
The Chipolopolo Boys will play the Atlas Lions on June 7th before meeting the Taifa Stars in Ndola four days later.
