Zambian defender, Frankie Musonda has been absent from Ayr United FC’s pre-season games.
Musonda has not been included in the club’s squads for their last three pre-season friendlies since July 8th, when he started against Stranraer FC.
The 25-year-old Chipolopolo defender joined Ayr United from another Scottish second-tier club, Raith Rovers, in June last year.
Following his impressive performances with Zambia in the Africa Cup qualifiers and the Scottish Championship last season, it’s been speculated that various clubs expressed interest in his signature.
However, in April this year, Musonda commented on his future at the club.
“I still got one more year here. So my focus is still very much on my club football here,” Musonda told BBC Sports Scotland.
”I have enjoyed my season here,” he added.
The center-half’s absence from the Honest Men’s pre-season has fueled further speculation. Some fans are now speculating that he may be leaving the club.
Ayr released a list of players who were leaving the club in May, and Musonda was not among them.
The club’s coach Lee Bullen also confirmed that, “Frankie is still recovering” from a slight knock.
Meanwhile, Ayr recently signed George Stanger, a defender from New Zealand, who has replaced Musonda in their starting lineup.
The defender has already started off strong by scoring in one of his last three pre-season matches.
Musonda signed a two-year deal with the Honest Men.
