ZPL National League side Trident Football Club has appointed Kebby Hachipuka as its new head coach, tasking him with steering the Kalumbila-based side back to the MTN Super League by the end of the season.
Hachipuka has been handed a 6-month contract with an option to extend for a full season, subject to performance and mutual agreement.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Trident confirmed that Hachipuka will be assisted by Jonas Sakuwaha, while Graven Chitalu and Isaac Shimoko have been reinstated to the technical bench as physical trainer and goalkeeper trainer, respectively, to complete the season.
Hachipuka brings a wealth of experience to Trident, having previously coached Super League outfit Green Eagles. He has also served as head coach at Mpulungu Harbour and ZNS Lwamfumu in the National League, building a reputation for competitive and well-organised teams in the second-tier league.
Assistant Coach Sakuwaha joins from Zesco United, where he worked as a youth coach. He has further head coaching experience from his time at Gomes FC in the National League, adding depth and balance to the newly constituted technical bench.
Decision in best interest – Trident CEO
Confirming the appointments, Trident Chief Executive Officer Mvula Mangulenje said the decision was taken with the club’s long-term ambitions in mind.
“The Executive Committee made the decision to appoint Hachipuka in the best interest of the club, with the aim of guiding the team forward and achieving a stronger finish to the season,” Mangulenje said.
The club has made it clear that the mandate of the new technical team is promotion, with Trident currently pushing for a return to the top flight after missing out in previous campaigns.
The reshaped technical bench will take charge immediately and is expected to be on the touchline for Trident’s next home fixture against Indeni Football Club on Saturday, a match that will mark Hachipuka’s first assignment since his appointment.
