Speaking in an exclusive interview with BOLA NEWS, the Aguilar Stars head coach, expressed confidence that his side will not only participate in the National League but ensure they can secure promotion to the Super League despite being debutant in the National Division One League.
“I believe that the team is greatly motivated and the players are playing with passion, I don’t think we will be limited by the fact that this is our first season in the National League, and we are not here to participate only but to compete favorably to secure promotion to the super league, and that’s attainable.” He confidently said
The Lusaka-based team is currently topping the National Division One League table with 9 points from four games played so far.
The Aguilar Stars gaffer also highlighted the fact that his side was able to recover from the first home defeat they suffered at the hands of Indeni and later bounced back to win their last three games in a row which has seen them shoot to the top with a point ahead of second-placed Mutondo stars.
” Yes we started on a slow note, especially in our first game against Indeni, we made a lot of mistakes, but despite that defeat, I couldn’t say that we were that bad, after the game we went to the drawing board and corrected the mistakes that we made and the boys have risen to the occasion, we have managed to win three games on a bounce, which isn’t easy.” He explained
Makundika is confident that his side will be able to deliver positive results in the coming games.
The National Division One League new boys have managed to collect maximum points from Atletico Lusaka, Konkola blades, and Kitwe United over the weekend with a 3-1 win.
“One of the positive aspects is that we have a young team, with many inexperienced players who always align themselves with the game plan of the team, every game is tough but the boys always rise to the occasion.”
Meanwhile, Sakala has urged different stakeholders to come together and help curb hooliganism in Football as such acts have the potential to destroy the spirit of the game, he cited an incident that took place over the weekend at Garden park stadium, in which one of the Aguilar Stars players had to be rushed to the hospital due to a head injury he sustained after he was stoned with some unknown object by angry fans.
