Mighty Mufulira Wanderers football club failed to earn promotion to the Super League on the last day of the previous two seasons. However, for the 2022–2023 season, it appears they won’t wait until the season’s final day to seal their promotion to the Super League.

They have largely maintained the top spot in the National Division League this season and have since secured qualification for the 2023 ABSA Cup.

With 32 points after 16 games this season, the legendary club are now comfortably leading the FAZ National Division League as the season heads on a break.

In an exclusive interview with BolaNews, Wanderers coach Harrison Tembo stated that his team’s goal for the current season is to gain promotion to the Super League.

Tembo said that the team wants to maintain its current momentum in order to avoid repeating previous mistakes.

“Our target now is qualifying for the Super League. Last season, we didn’t start the season well and only picked up in the second half of the season, but what we did was that we managed to keep our best players, and now these are the results that you are able to see, and that’s what can be attributed to the good results we are recording now,” he said.

“We just have to continue pushing the boys so that we can maintain the same performance and levels of fitness.”

One more ABSA Cup slot from the National Division League is up for grabs this weekend.

Mufulira Wanderers will travel to Konkola Stadium to face Konkola Blades in the week 17 matchup this weekend.
