Kebby Shampongo, the Chief Executive Officer of Konkola Blades Football Club, says that the club is assembling to reclaim its position in the county’s top division.
With 50 points from 22 games played in the National Division One competition, Sharp Razor is presently leading the league.
Konkola will be looking to hold onto their top rank and earn promotion to the Super League with just 13 games remaining in the 2024–2025 season.
However, as they get ready to play in the Super League, Konkola Blades announced the signing of six players to bolster their roster in the remaining games.
Goalie Katana Kasanda, who joined Konkola on a one-year contract from Kafue Eagles, and central defender Yanganile Tembo, who signed a one-year, six-month contract as a free agency, are among the newly signed players. Lemisa Moussa, a defensive midfielder, signed a six-month loan from Nkana to join Blades.
Justin Kangombe has signed a one-year deal, while Enock Agblenyo has signed a one-year six-month contract.
On the other hand, Emmanuel Taimolo Chikaza has also joined Blades from Kafue Celtic on loan for six months.
Kebby Shampongo, the CEO of Konkola Blades, thinks the squad they are assembling will solidify their spot in the Super League upon promotion.
“We are confident that the team will reclaim its position in the mtn Super league and currently, we are building the squad that will be sturdy enough to protect its stay in the country’s top league,” he said.
