Kansanshi Dynamos striker Dalitso Lungu has set a target of scoring more than ten goals and becoming the National Division One League’s top scorer this season.
Lungu is currently Kansanshi Dynamos’ top scorer, with seven goals to his name and only Chirundu United’s Philimon Chilimina has scored more (8) so far in the league.
This season, the Mabanga Boys forward has been instrumental in maintaining the team’s second-place league standings. They are currently in second place, with 37 points from 18 games played, which saw them qualify for this year’s ABSA Cup.
Lungu believes the first half of the league has been challenging, but his target still remains to emerge as the top scorer.
“The first half of this season has been full of ups and downs, but at least we managed to get some objectives that we could put on the table as in qualifying for the ABSA Cup,” he said.
“And as for me personally, I had the target of becoming the top scorer, but not only for the team but for the league as well.”
Lungu wants to score 10 more goals in the second round of the season.
“I am short by three; my target was actually 10 goals, but now I am working on another 10. Last season I was playing in the Premier League, so it’s been kind of tough for me adjusting to the National League because the style and play in this league are really hard; you need to work hard,” he admitted.
Looking ahead, in addition to his own target of scoring ten more goals this season, Lungu wants to help his team win promotion back to the MTN Super League.
“First things first, it’s to win promotion to the Super League since we have already qualified for ABSA.”
