National League side Konkola Blades Football Club has extended veteran coach Beston Chambeshi’s contract until the end of the 2025/26 season.
Although Chambeshi’s contract was about to expire in two days, he will continue to lead the Chililabombwe team, which he joined last season.
Currently, Blades have 10 victories, three draws, and one defeat in 14 league matches. Sharp Razor have also secured a spot in the ABSA Cup after scoring 33 points.
Konkola Blades chairperson Davy Mubita announced that the decision to extend the contract was inspired by his leadership and commitment.
“Signing a new contract with coach Chambeshi reflects our utmost confidence in his ability to guide the team back to winning promotion to the country’s topflight league, the ZPL’s Super Division, as well as playoffs of Absa Cup games,” Mubita said.
He added: “Chambeshi’s leadership and commitment to Konkola Blades have been crucial to the club’s success since the start of the 2024-25 season when he settled at the club as he strategically sought and organized some of the young talents, which he continues to nurture through discipline and hard work.”
Meanwhile, Chambeshi expressed delight with the extension of the contract.
“I am really happy to continue as head coach at Blades because we have set a plan that will take Konkola Blades back to the Super League and make sure that it stays,” he said.
