Satchmo Chakawa, Roan United head coach, is not focused on the points differences in the race for super league promotion.
Makeni All Stars are topping with 49 points, followed by Trident FC 47 points, third-placed Roan United have 46 points, tied with Chirundu United.
Fifth-placed Forest Rangers are on 43 points as Lumwana Radiants and Kafue Celtics follow with 42 and 41 points, respectively.
In an interview, Chakawa stated that the Luanshya-based side’s approach is taking each game as it comes.
Chakawa is focusing on keeping the players ready for upcoming matches.
“In these last games there is always a heavy mental load on the players, but it will be my duty to keep them grounded; it is just as important as the physical training,” he stated.
“We are shielding the squad from looking too far ahead at the table. The goal is to focus exclusively on the 90 minutes in front of us rather than the points gap in the top six.”
On facing Chirundu on Saturday at Lusaka’s Edwin Imboela stadium, Chakawa called for efficiency from the team.
“We have been neck-and-neck on the log standings with Chirundu United throughout the season, so it will be the little margins that will count, so we will have to be tactical, disciplined and efficient, especially in front of goal.”
