The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has announced that its president, Keith Mweemba, has stepped aside as chairperson of the National Team Technical Committee to focus on his broader responsibilities as head of the association.
In a statement, FAZ General Secretary Charles Chakatazya said the move would allow Mweemba to dedicate more time to the wider demands of his office and other strategic priorities.
“The FAZ president steps aside after a year at the helm of the committee, having hoped to guide it through its formative months and lay a strong foundation for its work,” the statement read.
Chakatazya added that a new chairperson would be appointed and announced in due course.
Meanwhile, FAZ has appointed former Zambia international Peter Kaumba to the National Team Technical Committee.
Kaumba joins a committee comprising former FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya, Kenneth Malitoli, Patrick Phiri and Danny Kabwe.
The National Team Technical Committee is responsible for providing technical guidance on national teams, including the recruitment, recommendation, assessment and monitoring of national team coaches and their performance.
