Morocco have reached the semifinals of the men’s 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, matching their historic 2005 run in the competition.
Despite being second-best in ball possession, the Atlas Cubs fought hard to claim a 3–1 victory over the USA and book their place in the last four. Goals from Fouad Zahouani, Yassine Gessime, and an own goal by Joshua Wynder sealed the win. The Americans’ only goal came from a penalty converted by Cole Campbell after Moroccan left-back Ali Maamar was judged to have committed a foul inside the box.
The North Africans began their campaign with a 2–0 win over Spain, followed by a 2–1 victory against Brazil and a narrow 1–0 defeat to Mexico in the group stage.
In the Round of 16, Morocco edged past South Korea 2–1 to reach the quarterfinals for the first time in two decades.
They will now face France, who beat Norway 2–1 to secure their semifinal spot. Argentina and Colombia complete the final four lineup.
The semifinal matches are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, with the final set to take place on Monday next week.
