As Paris Saint-Germain prepare to sell their talisman, Al-Hilal made a record-breaking offer earlier this week for French youngster Kylian Mbappe totaling €300 (£257m).
Additionally, PSG granted the club permission to talk with Mbappe because they want to sell him rather than lose him for free when his contract expires next season; last week, they dropped him from their pre-season team.
It looked like Mbappe would join the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and other big stars that are heading to the Gulf state; however, it appears likely that he will run down his contract in Paris.
An Al-Hilal delegation was reported to have been hoping to sell their project to Mbappé in Paris while finalizing the signing of Brazil striker Malcom from Zenit St Petersburg.
But, according to the French sports newspaper L’Equipe, Mbappé and his team have refused to enter into discussions with the Saudi club and he has never considered the move as an option.
Mbappé’s PSG future has been in doubt since it he told the club in June that he would not extend his existing deal through to 2025, meaning he would become a free agent next summer, and able to discuss a pre-contract agreement with another club as early as January.
Madrid eyeing Mbappe in the summer.
According to sources, the Saudi Arabian team may give him a one-year contract before letting him join Real Madrid.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, reportedly might wait until the summer to pursue him after investing in Jude Bellingham during this transfer window.
