Racheal Kundananji opened her scoring account in the Spanish Women’s La Liga with a brace after coming off from the substitutes bench in the second half.

Kundananji who has received a caller-up to the Zambia Women’s national team that will play an international friendly match against the Netherlands on October 6, scored a five minutes brace on Saturday afternoon for the Madrid CFF side that defeated Levante Las Planas FC 3-1 in the Spanish Primera Division.

She was introduced in the 46th minute and wasted no time finding her name on the scoresheet with goals in the 58th and 63rd minute to ensure victory for the home side.

Meanwhile, Grace Chanda who also joined the Spanish club last month from Kazakhstan’s Bilk Kazgurt FC made her debut in the Spanish league in the 74th minute after replacing Lucia Pardo to play the last 16 minutes of the match which saw Madrid climb to the top of the league with 6 points after round two.

Both Chanda and Kundananji were named in coach Bruce Mwape’s squad for the Netherlands friendly match as the Copper Queens begin to prepare for the ninth edition of the FIFA Women’s World which is set to be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand in July 2023.

The Copper Queens qualified for their first ever World Cup tournament after beating the Teranga
Lionesses of Senegal 4-2 on post-match penalties at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations which saw them progress to the semi-final to earn an automatic qualification to the World Cup.

The 2022 COSAFA Women’s Champions and Netherlands who were the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup runners-up last met at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games in a group stage match that ended 10-3 in favour of the European side.

The two will meet again in what will be a repeat of the Olympic games group stage match ahead of the biggest Women’s football showpiece in Australia and New Zealand.
