This weekend’s fixture will be the 100th time the two will meet in official competition at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, the home of Real Madrid.
It will also be the 184th time the two will clash in Spanish La Liga and the 283rd time across all competitions.
The first Ever El Clasico match which was hosted at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu took place on September 19th in 1948 and FC Barcelona won 1-2 in that fixture.
Real Madrid have won 50 of their previous 99 meetings with Barcelona and there have also been 22 draws and 27 victories for the Catalan club.
Madrid will also hope to defeat their visitors who are currently topping the La Liga on goal difference ahead of them, with both teams on 22 points.
In terms of form, Real Madrid have won 8 of their last 10 matches across all competitions while Barcelona has won 7 of their last 10 matches.
The two last met on the 20th March 2022 in the La Liga with Barcelona beating their rivals 0-4.
It remains to be seen if Barcelona will rise to the occasion in the derby and recover from their poor showing in the Champions League which saw them draw 3-3 with Inter Milan to put their chances of progressing to the knockout stage on a thin line.
