“Our target is to survive the group stage, “reveals black stars coach after unveiling final squad for Qatar World Cup

Ghana National Team coach Otto Addo unveiled a star-studded squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and says, the team's target is to go beyond the group stage of the competition.

Ghana has unveiled their 26-man squad for the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup led by Midfielder Andre Ayew who is set to make his third appearance at the competition.

The squad also includes Premier League stars Daniel Amartey from Leicester City, Jordan Ayew from Crystal Place, Brighton and Hove Albion FC defender Tariq Lamptey, and Arsenal Midfielder Thomas Partey, among others.

Spansih-born and Athletico Bilbao’s striker Inaki Williams who recently switched his international allegiance to Ghana has also made a cut in the squad as well as in form Ajax Amsterdam midfielder Mohammed Kudus.

Head coach Otto Addo announced his final squad on Monday afternoon during a media briefing in Ghana and believes he has selected a well-balanced team which will deliver in Qatar.

Addo emphasized the need for Ghanaians to build football momentum together as a country as a sign of unity.

โ€œThe energy is high, most of the players are happy and especially that some players will be participating in the tournament for the first time,” he said. โ€œFor now it will be difficult to predict, but we will take each game as it comes our target is to survive the group stage.โ€

The Black stars who will are going to their fourth World Cup having qualified for the tournament in 2006, 2010, 2014 are in group H alongside Uruguay, South Korea and Portugal.

Other vital info to note: it will be the fourth World Cup appearance for the black stars after

Ghana has only managed to go beyond the knock out stage once in 2010 when they reached the Qatar finals and having missed out on the 2018 edition, they will look to go beyond the group stage as the team is high on confidence.
