Ghana National team coach Otto Addo has accused the the center referee for the World cup match between the Black Stats and Portugal of bias officiating.

Ghana lost 3-2 to Portugal in their opening Group H match which saw the referee award Cristiano Ronaldo a controversial penalty kick in the 63rd minute after a slight push with Mohammed Salisu in the box.

Ronaldo scored from the spot to become the first player ever to score in five World Cups but the penalty has become a center of debate among fans, pundits and coaches who have questioned the referee’s decisions.

Reacting to the same, Ghana’s caretaker coach Addo slammed the referee and wondered why the penalty was not checked on Video Assistant Referee VAR.

“The referee gave a penalty which was not a penalty,” he said during post match press conference. “Everyone saw that. Why? Because it’s Ronaldo or something?”

“If somebody scores a goal, congratulations. But this was really a gift. A special gift from the referee.”

The five goal thriller also saw Andre Ayew and Osman Bukari scoring for Ghana while Jao Felix and Rafael Leao the other Portuguese scorers on the night.

Ghana will play their second match at the Qatar World Cup on Monday next week against South Korea who drew 0-0 with Uruguay earlier today.

The Black Stars who are now the only African team to score in Qatar will look to win their next match in order to stand a chance of advancing to the round of 16.
