The Zambian Women’s National team played their first friendly match against Colombia on Sunday morning and lost 1:0 in Cali.
Meanwhile, FAZ President Andrew Kamanga in his weekly column dubbed president corner has said the association plans to host another friendly match with a World Cup-bound country to give an opportunity to watch the girls at home before the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
“The stock of the Copper Queens has been growing having made a debut Olympic appearance and now senior world cup appearance,” he said. “We have lined up some prospective friendly matches and hopefully we can host a world cup bound team at home for the Copper Queens to give the fans an opportunity to watch their team on home soil.”
Kamanga has also assured Zambians that the association will not relent to prepare the Copper queens for the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
“We will not relent in giving the team quality preparations as part of our commitment to ensuring that the World Cup appearance will be memorable.”
The Copper Queens will play their second international friendly match against Colombia on Tuesday, 15 November 2022 at the Pascual Guerrero stadium Cali.
