Manchester United gave away a two-nil lead to draw 2-2 with Sevilla at home in their first-leg Europa League tie at Old Trafford on Thursday night.
With just 14 minutes gone, Austrian midfielder Marcel Sabitzer gave the Red Devils the lead by latching onto Bruno Fernandes’ sliderule pass into the area and beating Sevilla’s Yassine Bono.
7 minutes later, Sabitzer was again set up by Anthony Martial to complete his brace and put United two goals ahead in the first half.
Sevilla came back stronger in the second half as they constantly initiated attacks in United’s half.
Just when Erik Ten Hag and his men thought the business was done, Sevilla pulled one back when Nevas cutback deflected off Tryrell Malacia to beat De Gea.
No sooner did they score than the Spanish side put another ball behind the net to level the score after Yousef En-Nesry rose high to nod a header that deflected off Harry Maguire, who had just been subbed on.
The two own goals in the last 15 minutes of the match were enough for the visiting side to secure vital away goals before the two sides clash again in the second leg next Thursday.
United will visit Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Sunday while Sevilla travel to Valencia in LaLiga.
