Zambian Midfielder Klings Kangwa is part of the Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) squad that has left for turkey for the UEFA Europa League match against Trabzonspor set to be played on Thursday.
Kangwa who hit the ground running immediately after he joined the Serbian giants from Russian side Arsenal Tula, has so far scored 3 goals and provided 3 assists in five games across all competitions and coach Dejan Stankovic will hope the Zambian rises to the occasion tomorrow in the European encounter as they seek redemption from the 0-1 home defeat they suffered last week to French side Monaco.
Kangwa kicked off his campaign in the European competition with a goal in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers despite his team not making it to the group stage. He also provided two assists in the Champions League qualifiers, a thing which has earned him game time at the club.
Trabzonspor and Red Star Belgrade will square off in Turkey as both teams look to put their first points on the board. The hosts also lost their opening game away at Ferencvaros 3-2.
Meanwhile, Zambian forward Fashion Sakala is also part of the Rangers FC squad that will take on Italian side Napoli in the UEFA Champions League.
Sakala was an unused substitute in Rangers’ group A opener against Ajax last week when they got thumped 4-0 and the Zambian will hope to get some game time tonight and make his Champions League debut.
Both Sakala and Kangwa are part of coach Aljosa Asanovic’s 27-member Chipolopolo provisional squad for two international friendly matches against Libya and Mali on the 21st and 25th of September 2022 and are expected to fly to Zambia immediately after the international window starts.
