Emmanuel Banda beats Daka to a Europa Conference League record

Chipolopolo midfielder Emmunuel Banda scored for his Swedish club, Djurgaderns IF side that defeated KAA Gent 4-2 in the Europa Conference League on Thursday night.

BANDA scored the third goal of the match with a header from the center of the box seconds before the second half whistle.

It was Banda’s second goal in the competition this season which sees him surpass his compatriot Patson Daka tally.

He’s goal meant he was now the highest Zambian scorer in the competition with 2 goals ahead of Daka who scored only one goal last season with Leicester City in their 2-1 win over PSV.

Banda has now been directly involved in 12 goals this season having scored a total of 7 goals and provided 5 assists across all competitions for the Swedish club.

Meanwhile the midfielder dedicated his goal to his compatriot Enock Mwepu who prematurely announced his retirement from football due to a heart condition.

In his celebration, Banda displayed a t-shirt with the writing, “STAY STRONG COMPS” to mean strong COMPUTER in reference to Mwepu.
