The English Premier League leaders, Arsenal FC, have not had the best of luck at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as they have left empty-handed three times. Their last victory over Tottenham away from home was back in 2014, in a game in which current manager Mikel Arteta started for the Gunners.
However, following notable victories at Old Trafford and Stanford Bridge and with the chance to increase their lead to 8 points at the top, Mikel Arteta will be motivated to get all three points.
“In the last few years, there were places we haven’t won for 15, 17, or 20 years,” Arteta said in his pre-match press conference.
“I would like to do it all at once. We haven’t been able to do that, so we have a great challenge and opportunity on Sunday to get that done.”
Despite his squad’s need for improvement, Arteta is enthusiastic about his matchup with the Antonio Conte-coached team.
“That’s the challenge that we have. We have to beat them at their own game. I think the players are in a really good emotional state. We are excited, we are enjoying playing together, and we are in a good position. So we have to improve a lot of the things we still have to do, and we have to maintain the things that have taken us this far.”
Currently in fifth place in the league standings with 33 points, Tottenham will head into this fixture hoping to move into the top four while the Gunners will look to extend their lead to eight points ahead of second-placed Manchester City.
