Arsenal has been dealt with an enormous injury blow ahead of next week’s game against bitter rivals Tottenham after Thomas Partey was ruled out of Ghana’s game against Brazil due to a knock during a warm-up session.
In a masterclass performance which saw Brazil score three times to secure a victory against the Black Stars who weren’t quite bright enough in the first stanza, Partey did not take part.
The midfielder who has been an instrumental figure when fit, was due to start for Ghana against Brazil on Friday night but was ruled out of the line-up following the warm-up for the match with only few minutes away from kickoff.
With several Arsenal players out on International duty, Mikel Arteta would have been hoping to have a near full-strength squad for the North London Derby on October 1, but the Spaniard will now be sweating on the fitness of Thomas Partey.
After completing a 45 million pound move from Athletico Madrid, Partey has struggled with injuries through out his time at the English club.
He had been named as part of the Black Stars squad for their final preparations ahead of the World Cup despite only making a return on the pitch last time out against Brentford.
Partey’s latest injury is not yet known, perhaps everyone associated with the Black Stars and Arsenal should hope for a speedy recovery with the FIFA World Cup kicking off a month from now.
