English Premier League

New year, same Chelsea

The Blues’ poor form in the English Premier League has continued, as they began 2023 with a frustrating 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest.

After 16 minutes of play, a Rahim Sterling rebound gave Chelsea the advantage, but they could not hold on to the lead in the second half as Ivory Coast’s Serge Aurier scored the equalizer with a volley just when things were looking well for the Blues.

Chelsea have lost three of their last five Premier League matches, leaving them in eighth place in the table, 18 points behind leaders Arsenal.

On the other hand, it was a vital point for Nottingham Forest, who are deep in the relegation zone with 14 points in 17 games.

Chelsea will host Manchester City this Thursday in their next Premier League match as pressure mounts on Potter’s men.
