Liverpool thrashed Manchester United 7-0 at Anfield as Mohamed Salah ran riot on Sunday night to break a record.

The Reds put on a “no mercy” display to hand Erik Ten Hag’s team a humbling loss.

Jurgen Klopp’s men secured the big win with two goals each from Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, and Salah in addition to one from Roberto Firmino.

Salah’s brace and two assists earned him the man of the match, as he was directly involved in four out of seven goals.

The Egyptian goal king also became Liverpool’s record Premier League goalscorer with 129 goals.

Liverpool’s triumph has placed them in fifth place, just three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham.

The Reds have a game in hand and will look to reclaim a spot in the top four brackets. They have awakened their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.

Meanwhile, United’s hopes of pulling off an unexpected Premier League title victory, however, appear to be ended.

They are currently in third place, nine points behind second-place Manchester City and fourteen behind league-leading Arsenal.

While Liverpool will look to extend their winning run when they play Bournemouth next weekend, United will turn their attention to the upcoming Europa League match against Real Betis on Thursday.
