Liverpool delivered a commanding performance with a 2-0 victory over Manchester City at Anfield, solidifying their position at the top of the Premier League.

Goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah widened the gap between the two title contenders, leaving Liverpool nine points clear of second-place Arsenal and 11 ahead of Pep Guardiola’s defending champions.

City, now winless in seven games across all competitions and sitting fifth in the standings, were left searching for answers. With Virgil van Dijk hitting the post and Salah missing a one-on-one chance, Liverpool’s dominance could have resulted in an even bigger margin of victory.

ARSENAL RUN RIOT IN SEVEN-GOAL THRILLER

Arsenal’s relentless attack saw them dismantle West Ham 5-2 at the London Stadium, closing the gap on Liverpool to six points, which was restored to nine following their victory over City on Sunday. Mikel Arteta’s men, inspired by Bukayo Saka, have now scored 13 goals in their last three matches.

Gabriel Magalhaes opened the scoring with a header from a Saka corner in the 10th minute. Leandro Trossard and Martin Ødegaard extended the lead before Kai Havertz added a fourth. Despite a brief West Ham resurgence with goals from Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Emerson Palmieri, Arsenal sealed the win with a second penalty from Saka after Lukasz Fabianski fouled Gabriel.

CHELSEA CONTINUE WINNING STREAK

Chelsea climbed level with Arsenal in the standings after a convincing 3-0 win over Aston Villa. Nicolas Jackson, Enzo Fernández, and Cole Palmer all found the back of the net, extending Villa’s winless streak to eight matches.

Chelsea’s resurgence has them firmly in the title race, while Villa’s slide sees them drop to 12th, raising questions about their ability to recover.

BRIGHTON SETTLE FOR A POINT BUT SLIP TO FOURTH

Brighton & Hove Albion secured a 1-1 draw against Southampton at the Amex Stadium. Kaoru Mitoma’s early header gave Brighton the lead before Flynn Downes equalized just before the hour mark. A controversial offside ruling denied Southampton a potential winner, leaving Brighton temporarily in second place.

However, subsequent results saw Brighton drop to fourth, underscoring the competitiveness at the top of the table.

The Premier League title race is heating up, with Liverpool leading the charge, Arsenal and Chelsea close behind, and Manchester City struggling to find their footing.
