On Frank Lampard returned to Chelsea with a 0-1 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers who snatched a vital win thanks to Matheus Nunes’ first-half goal.
After Graham Potter was fired less than seven months into a five-year contract, Lampard was named caretaker coach until the end of the season.
However, after the match on Saturday, he stated that he did not expect to solve all of the club’s problems in a single day.
Lampard described his second stint at the club as a difficult task but remained optimistic about the future.
“It’s a big task managing Chelsea…. We know we are not in a position we want to be in,” he said. “There’s always a reason for it. I didn’t expect to solve everything in one day. You have to have more aggression in your game, more speed, and more competitive duels that go your way.”
He added that he believes the game against Real Madrid on Wednesday will be a completely different game.
“We have a huge game waiting for us on Wednesday where everything changes. Wednesday will be a completely different game.”
Meanwhile, after beating Chelsea, Wolverhampton moved to 12th place in the Premier League standing and four points clear of the relegation zone, while the Blues remained 11th.
