Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United kick off their 2023–24 Premier League campaign tonight as they welcome Wolverhampton to Old Trafford.

Erik Ten Hag’s side, who finished third last season, will be seeking to continue with their impressive form as they face a struggling Wolves.

Ten Hag is happy with his squad and believes the team is ready to compete.

“We are very confident, but I also want to mention that pre-season doesn’t say anything. Pre-season is pre-season. It is friendly football,” he said.

“When you are going for the points, it is a different approach for both teams. We are ready; we want to fight. We are looking forward and energetic, and we go for it.”

The Dutch manager added that the team looks better than last season and is impressed with the fitness levels of the players.

“You never can compare seasons with each other, but I think we are much further than last season. But you can never compare games. Also different opponents, but I think we had a very good pre-season. Our fitness levels are very good.

“We are on really good levels, and I also think our performance levels during the pre-season were on a high level,” noted the gaffer.
