Daka’s likely reunion with Jesse Marsch excites Leicester City fans

Patson Daka could reunite with his former manager, Jesse Marsch, who oversaw his prolific goal-scoring days at RB Salzburg.

Leicester City recently parted ways with Brendan Rogers after an abysmal season, which has left the Midlands club in the relegation zone.

The Irish manager enjoyed a relatively successful spell at the club. He won the FA Cup, the Community Shield, and finished in a Europa League qualification spot on two occasions.

However, things have turned for the worst this season, with the 2015-16 Premier League champions a shadow of their former selves. Hence, the club decided their time with Rogers was over after their 2-1 defeat to a Crystal Palace side that had previously lost four games in a row.

Following Rogers’ departure, Leicester City have continued to be a letdown, as they suffered defeats to Aston Villa and Bournemouth.

They currently sit second bottom of the league with only 25 points. The Foxes have lost eight of their last nine league games in all competitions.

The club’s hierarchy now needs to find a manager who can rectify this issue before it’s too late.

Former Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch has emerged as the odds-on favorite to succeed Rogers in Leicester City’s dugout.

Of course, Marsch is no stranger to such a daunting task, as he was appointed by Leeds in 2022 to help them survive relegation. Neither is he unfamiliar with Leicester City’s front line, as he worked with Patson Daka at RB Salzburg.

The duo was a force to be reckoned with in Austria. They won two Austrian Bundesliga titles and two Austrian Cups.

The Zambian striker directly contributed to 85 goals in 87 games under Jesse Marsch, scoring 61 and assisting 24.

“If Leicester gets Marsch, watch Daka turn world-class.”- fans

Leicester City fans are hoping Marsch and Daka can reignite their breathtaking spark from their Salzburg days and guide the Midlands club to survival.

One fan, @Phillyconcarne, wrote, “If Leicester get Marsch, watch Daka turn world class.”

“Seems Marsch is coming in, let’s hope he can get Daka playing like he did at Salzburg and get the rest to start to play with passion. Let’s give him a chance and see what he can do.” @jameseharlow added.

Patson Daka’s best season of his career came in his last season under Jesse Marsch, when he scored 27 league goals to win the Austrian Golden Boot and Best Player award.

Patson Daka poses for a photo with his topscorer and player of the season awards in Austria while still at RB Salzburg.

That was the very first time a Zambian had won a league topscorer award in Europe since Mwape Miti in 2004.

Daka has only scored four goals in 23 Premier League appearances this season, starting 12 games and providing three assists.
