Daka and Vardy told to step up against Liverpool

Leicester City will be in search of redemption as they square off against Liverpool in the English Premier League tonight.

After facing a significant amount of criticism, Patson Daka will undoubtedly be eager to make amends if given a chance to play against Liverpool as fans urge him and the club’s veteran striker Jamie Vardy, to step up their performance tonight.

Daka and Vardy have scored a combined total of 4 goals, with the former netting 3 of those in 15 appearances and 8 starts, while the latter has only found the back of the net once this season in the Premier League in 16 appearances, a thing which has worried the Leicester City fans.

In their last Premier League match, it was an overall poor performance from the entire team when they were thrashed 0-3 at home at by Newcastle United, but Brendan Rodgers is optimistic that the Foxes can bounce back from their lethargic Boxing Day showing when they take on Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Speaking ahead of the game, Rodgers said, “It’s always a difficult game at Anfield, and no one knows that more than myself.” “It’s a great challenge for us, but challenges are there to be overcome, and it’s a great opportunity to get back out there in a fantastic game.”

Liverpool have lost two of their last three Premier League games against Leicester, as many as they had in their previous 17.

The Foxes go into the game eager to move clear of the Premier League relegation zone, but they will be without midfielder James Maddison as he nurses a niggling knee injury. He is an essential part of the squad, and his absence will be felt in the quest to stay ashore.

Jurgen Klopp emphasized how excited the Liverpool camp is for tonight’s showdown.

“Although this season has been different, one of the things that has not changed has been our work ethic and the collective desire to be the best that we can possibly be which comes with it,” he said.

“this is why our training camp in Dubai was so important and I think we saw the benefit of the work we did in the friendly matches we played and also in our first league fixture after the breakaway to Aston Villa.”

The stage at Anfield is set as both sets of players will battle it out in search of a win. Rodgers will be eager to cause an upset against his former employers, but the responsibility ahead will not be the easiest, even though Liverpool hasn’t been at its overall best and several of its weaknesses have been exploited this season.

Liverpool sit in sixth position with 25 points and are coming from 1-3 away win over Aston Villa while Leicester City are ranking 13th on the standings with 17 points.
