With only four minutes of total playing time in the English Premier League in 2023, Patson Daka has now gone four months without scoring.

Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho, who is in fine form and appears to have found his scoring touch after a lengthy drought, has replaced the Zambian, who has only appeared once in the last six league games.

Daka scored five Premier League goals and contributed three assists in 23 games last season, but this season, the club’s all-time leading scorer in European competitions with six goals, has struggled to find the back of the net.

He has also scored three goals and contributed three assists in nine starts of his 17 appearances so far in the current campaign.

The Zambian has been an unused substitute in the last three matches and manager Brendan Rodgers has explained the player’s current situation.

According to LeicestershireLive, when asked if Daka had progressed with the club as he hoped, Rodgers said: “It doesn’t matter in terms of progression. He’s a valuable member of the squad.”

Rodgers also disclosed that Daka is training very well and that his time to play will come again.

“Him(Daka) and Kels(Kelechi Iheanacho), at different times they’ve been playing. Kels has been playing really well so his form has meant that he’s played. When we’ve then wanted someone to go in behind, Vards has been the person we’ve looked at.

“Patson is still training well every day and if the moment comes for him, then he will be there. He’s adapted really well. It’s always a challenge coming into this league but he’s been a great support striker. He just needs to keep working and if the opportunity arises, look to take it,” Rodgers was quoted by LeicestershireLive.

Rodgers’ Foxes seek redemption at King Power stadium

Meanwhile, the Foxes will host league leaders Arsenal today at the King power stadium today.

Leicester City suffered a 3-0 loss against Manchester United last weekend and will seek redemption.

Currently, 14th on the table, Rodgers’ men will aim to frustrate the league leaders who regained their position at the summit with a comeback victory over Aston Villa last weekend.

Leicester have lost their last four Premier League games against Arsenal.

They have, however, won three of their last five games while losing once and drawing once.

BETTING TIP: Go for goals. Both teams to score at least one goal.
